Dearest Friends,
Ah. We’ve been busy. A whole new album nearly finished, nearly ready to be born right into a Flipron shaped hole in your life. Something else too: Something you’ve never heard before. It burps, cries, farts and needs your constant attention, but you’re going to love it as if it was one of your own. Yes, the brand new Flipron single.
We’ll be letting you have a cuddle of it at all the gigs we have coming up, before releasing it sometime in June. The 100 Club in London next Wednesday will be its official live debut. Come and have a sniff of it. Everyone else is coming. It would be weird of you not to. (Unless you live in Peru)
We’ve called it BOOK OF LIES. And it needs you. It really does.

Innocent Village Fete...NEW TIME 1pm! Current mood: hot

Lee "Scratch" Flipron
Not content with lending Sly & The Family Stone their fuzz pedal at Lovebox, this week Flipron lent their entire keyboard player to reggae legend Lee "Scratch" Perry!
Joe was at the Endorse it In Dorset festival helping out good friends and very wonderful The Big (www.myspace.com/maximumska or www.thebig.org) who were lacking a keyboard player for their show..
An hour or so after the Big set and more than a bit lubricated from a couple of White Russians and a few Stellas Joe was called backstage along with Ed, Jim and Bella from The Big to meet Mr Lee Perry who's band had not made it Dorset due to their bus breaking down...
To cut a long story short (ish) Joe Flipron and his Big friends ended up being Lee "Scratch " Perry's backing band for the night (with help from Tim from the Cracked Actors www.myspace.com/mustaphatoke ) despite knowing none of the songs...I think the term is called "winging it" as the following set list suggests..
1)" ...er...A minor then E minor..."
2) "I thinks its C minor...no, major..."
3) "Exodus...oh we know this one a bit"
4) "Stay on E.."
5) "Funky Kingston...ish"
I think they got away with it....
Cheers!
Just a quick message...
We've just been added to the Innocent Village Fete in Regents Park, London this Saturday (4th August). We shall appear on the "Acoustic Bandstand" (which sounds fun) at 1pm. Its £5 entry...more details at www.innocentvillagefete.com )
Sounds like a nice day out....!

Sly & The Family Flipron Current mood: jubilant
What a splendid weekend! Friday night at the beautiful Trowbridge Pump Festival then up to that London for Lovebox for 2 shows and an onstage apprearance with Sly & The Family Stone!!!!
Well sort of! Whilst loitering behind the main stage looking for a safe place to stash our equipment, a very flustered stage manager appeared in a state of some panic.
"Has anyone got a fuzz pedal and a wah wah?" he enqired.
"We have a fuzz pedal" we responded.
"Fancy lending it to Sly and the Family Stone?"
"Er...hell yes..as long as we can watch the show from the side of the stage...!"
And so it was that as Sly Stone (once they found him) and his band took to the stage on the Saturday with Flipron's "Snarling Dog" Fuzz pedal blaring out accross Victoria Park, Flipron were right there with them, stage left, enjoying every moment!
Catch the newly renamed Sly Stone Pedal at a Flipron show near you very soon!
Cheers!

14th May
Dear dear Friends,
Today is the day! The day about whose very existence the Earth has been turning in giant, rumbling anticipation since first it began to cool, billions of years ago, when our solar system was young and new, when the stars into whose long dead lamps we now gaze were ripe and magnificent in the fullness of their being. When the Milky Way itself was first stretching out it's pale, youthful limbs into the cold, plunging darkness of the void. We refer of course to Dogboy Day. The day that seers, philosophers, alchemists and scientists have predicted, calculated and charted for millenia. Great names such as Archemedes, Socrates, Leonardo Da Vinci (of course), Gallileo, Newton, Wittgenstein, Einstein, Bono & Russell Grant have all mentioned this Dogboy Day over and over in their writings, although it has been so heavily codified and concealed that it may appear to the untrained eye that in fact they haven't clue about it, that they don't give a monkey's. But we know better. You too can buy in to this secret information at all good record shops, (you'll probably be having to queue up behind the likes of Stephen Hawking and Nelson Mandela though) So if the world wide web can survive the Dogboy Effect you could buy it online at the usual online retailers such as Amazon or download it at itunes or napster. Or buy it from Tiny Dog Records or straight from the Flipron website, (link at the bottom of this message page). Yes, it's the new single, Dogboy Vs. Monsters, with two splendid extra songs: Cartoons Astronomy Etc. and an acoustic, vocal version of Skeletons On Holiday.
Immediate purchase of this recording, would, if our calculations are correct, help to keep the Earth on a safe, stable orbit around the Sun. If you don't buy it, well, we don't want to scare you or anything, but who knows WHAT might happen?!
You would be safer, we suspect, should any breach of the space-time continuum occur, if you were to be in attendance at one of our forthcoming gigs, in Brighton on Wednesday, in Ton Pentre in Mid Glamorgan on Friday or Portsmouth on Saturday. Sniff the website for further details... Cheerio, love from Flipron
7th May
Dear dear Friends,
As, no doubt, you are aware, we shall be releasing our single 'Dogboy Vs. Monsters' into the retail establishments of Britain on 14th May. To celebrate this singular item of Flipron-shaped splendidness, we shall be playing one or two select dates in the southern ends of both England & Wales. See the website for details. If you are of a Londonish persuasion, our rather glamorous single launch night will be at the Spice Of Life, Moor Street, London W1 on Friday 11th May. Please come if you can. Do you know why there is an extra-special reason to come along to this? Well, within the larger format of a lengthy, unhurried set of favorites old & not-so-old, we shall be playing some brand spanking new material, never before heard outside of the exclusive confines of a Flipron rehearsal. Oh yes indeed. Get there early. Tickets are £7 on the door, or £6 with a flyer. (Let us know if you want one & we'll email it to you!)
Hope to see you all soon. Lots of love from the Family Flipron.
16th April
Our very dear friends,
We try not to ask too much of you. We try not to bother you overly often with the kind of news that a small cult band might wish to communicate to that modestly sized body of intelligent, charming, talented, attractive & dare we say, altogether original personalities that make up the Flipron faithful...... (you're getting suspicious...)
And as far as we can reach into the grubby, unkempt basements of the collective Flipron memory, we have never seriously prevailed upon you to do anything so undignified as to 'vote' for us in any of those tasteless scrambles for fame & glory that so many bands find themselves embroiled in as we endeavour to earn a just reasonable living through making our music.... (have you gone yet?)
Well, we're not going to do that now. Well nothing truly TASTELESS, anyway. (Certainly not, -it's BBC radio don't you know!) But those wonderful people at BBC 6MUSIC, in their efforts to help us jump over the playlisting hurdles to their splendid Shaun Keaveny Breakfast Show, which probably plays the best music of any breakfast show in the world, have decided to play 40 seconds of our new single 'Dogboy Vs. Monsters' this morning. They will interview Jesse over the phone. Then they will ask their listeners to VOTE if they wish to hear the rest of the song on Thursday. That, of course, is where YOU, one of our intelligent, charming, talented, attractive etc. etc.... friends come in.
Remember that we love you and that there is the real and hideous possibility that it might not get enough votes - Oh the shame of it!.....
And whatever you do with your vote, and you have until the end of Wednesday to do it,
please do it HERE!
27th February
Dear, dear friends.
On Friday 13th April, in London, at a TOP SECRET location, (alright, somewhere splendid near Holborn tube) we shall be appearing as part of an evening's entertainment called White Mischief. It is oh so much more than just a GIG. This is a something. A monster. A many horned beast of an evening with FLIPRON swinging like an udder from it's underbelly. A boulder of super dense, smoldering entertainment rolling down the very slopes of destiny to collide with your life in a happy, sticky mess. It has been described by those in the know, THUS:
...On Friday the 13th of April 2007 for WHITE MISCHIEF, a "New Vaudeville" rock and roll circus combining unique, theatrical live bands with unforgettable cabaret performances in a dark, magical voodoo atmosphere. It all kicks off at 19:30 in a top-secret central London location (see www.myspace.com/whitemischiefnight for details).

Kunta Kinte, Making a wild tribal pop sound with their two drummers and chanting backing vocals, Kunta Kinte have been described as "very good" by cult website Popjustice and as "a cross between Adam Ant and the Scissor Sisters", by music biz publication Record of the Day.
Evil Genius, Launching their debut EP, Evil Genius will emerge from their secret mountaintop lair to perform their own brand of "pop noir" that would have Nick Cave twisted with envy.
With entr'acte performances by:The legendary Marisa Carnesky, whose phantasmagorical Carnesky's Ghost Train has appeared at locations as diverse as Trafalgar Square and the Glastonbury Festival, performing her daring "Magic Temple" act involving a bed of nails, swords and a giant earwig;

Mademoiselle Fifi, an amazing, gravity-defying burlesque aerialist; Performers courtesy of the Whoopee Agency.
IN THE SIDE ROOM:

Well there we have it. We dare you to resist such temptation. Or rather we don't. Please come if you can. It will be an opportunity for Flipron to show off without mercy on a great big fancy stage & we need YOU to listen, watch, applaud crazily & finally to throw bouquets of exotic flowers to us, shouting "Encore! Encore!" So please buy the cheaper tickets while they are still available. They suit you better than the more expensive ones. We're also playing in Canterbury & Bath soon.
29th January
Our Dear Dear Friends,
Valentine's Night falls this year on a Wednesday, the day so withered & mis-shapen by its distance from the fertile soils of the weekend that the fruits of love that it bears risk falling onto the barren tundra of the working week, youthful shoots strangled & starved before hey can even take root. Curses.
But WAIT! Those splendid folks at Lost Vagueness have transplanted this Night Of Love into the warm, comely bosom of a Saturday Night in the Elephant & Castle & have invited FLIPRON to be your live Valentine soundtrack. And if the lure of FLIPRON twatting about like acccordion squeezing Cupids on a beautifully lit theatre stage isn't enough, there is a whole underworld of eye-popping, jaw-dropping, life-changing entertainment to be witnessed & talked about for deacades to come. So attire yourself in your very finest saucy clobber, hail a carriage & have yourself delivered to a place where elegant debauchery is served with the simplicity & class of a lone green olive in a cold Martini.
Tickets are disappearing quickly. So book it now at www.lostvagueness.com -or at the very least just have a drool at what a real night out might actually be like. Saturday 17th February. The Coronet Theatre, Elephant & Castle, London SE1. Remember, we want you to come along. You're invited!
Can't go? Do you live anywhere near Salisbury, Swindon, Gloucester, Canterbury or Bath? Then come along & see us play near you in February & March. Details on this very Flipron website. Oh it's all going on now......
20th November
Our dear Friends,
We have a last few gigs to tell you about for this year:
Firstly, this very Tuesday 21st November in London, at a rather charming (so we've been told) little venue in London called the Miller Of Mansfield, 96 Snowsfield Road, SE1. Nearest tube London Bridge. It's right by Guys Hospital, so you can watch our last London show of the year, drink yourself to the point where some kind of injury is a near certainty, then make use of the local hospital to have your hand sewn back on, your stomach pumped or a kebab skewer removed from your cheek. Alternatively you can dress up as medical staff, make some kind of serious security breach & tell the newspapers all about it in exchange for hard cash and a big lump of your soul.
We will also be playing in lovely Portsmouth on the 30th of this month.
Then finally, our end of tour, end of year party gig will be happening in Glastonbury, at the Assembly Rooms on Friday 1st of December, where you can again drink yourself to the point where some kind of injury is a near certainty, then make use of the local alternative therapies to have your pancreas realligned with an ascendant Jupiter, followed of course by a trip to the Glastonbury Minor Injuries Unit to have the kebab skewer removed from your cheek, just for good measure...
Lots of love, Flipron
2nd October 2006
It is indeed time to celebrate! After a long, deliberate incubation in the windswept Flipron eyrie, our little egg has hatched. We have called it BISCUITS FOR CERBERUS. It is our new record & it is released today, Monday the 2nd October. Some kind journalists have already written splendid words about it. For example, Unpeeled magazine have called it "the album that Paul McCartney might have made if Linda had let him stay on the acid... a gorgeous gift to an undeserving nation", the celebrated music journalist Mick Mercer has urged his readers to "Immerse (themselves) in (Flipron's) world and celebrate a true national treasure.", The Mind's Construction Quarterly states that "there are few other bands profound as Flipron and none who can write about mortality so lightly and without false consciousness. Buy it!" & even mainstream music journalist Neil McCormick wrote in that august organ of the upper crust establishment The Daily Telegraph that the record was "Brilliant, but frankly unclassifiable." We didn't even have to pay any of them anything.... If you wish to order it we can do no better than to direct you to our patrons & sponsors at Tiny Dog records. The first 50 copies bought from this website will be in limited edition, hand-made, hand-drawn slipcases signed by the cover artist, Dylan Schoone, the musicians & producer. A number of these have already been purchased in pre-sales but there are still some available for the prompt purchaser. Make haste to this website www.tinydog.co.uk Finally, we Flipron-shaped musicians wish to thank those of you who have waited eagerly & patiently for this new release. We very much hope you like it. Love from Flipron XXXX
25th September 06
Dear Friends,
Our new double A-side single, 'The End Of Summer' / 'Raindrops Keep Falling On The Dead' is out today! Also included in this package is an exclusive & previously unreleased song called 'Flush It', recorded in the same sessions as our new album 'Biscuits For Cerberus'.
Should you find yourself so enamoured of these songs that your only hope of sanity lies in the immediate purchase of this little CD, then please visit the homepage of our splendid record label at www.tinydog.co.uk, where you will find yourself gently guided to the sort of civilised transaction that comes of knowing that behind the words & images of a record label website lies a team of human beings who will do their very best to provide for you the music you crave.
All our finest Flipron wishes, the band xxxx
19th September 06
Our dear friends,
A gentle communication, oh so subtle, like a tiny pat on the brain from the tooth fairy, to remind you that Flipron shall be playing a special gig, this Friday 22nd September at the Spice Of Life, Moor Street, Soho, London W1, to celebrate the release of their new album "Biscuits For Cerberus". Should you wish to attend, please arrive early, doors at about 8pm. It's £6 unless you print off this email & show it at the door. You'll get a whole pound off, which you can put toward your special advance copy of this very record, which will be available on the night.
Oh yes, you see, the album comes out on the 2nd October. But just to help you through that twisted knot of fevered Flipron anticipation that you are, undoubtably, already beginning to experience, the double A-side single: "The End Of Summer / Raindrops Keep Falling On The Dead" comes out on the 25th of September on CD, replete with a splendid bonus track entitled "Flush It", recorded at the new album sessions and reserved especially only for you delightful souls who, from time time, flatter the band with your email addresses and crisp banknotes.
The delightfully skewy Raindrops video, having been shown at the Cannes Film Festival, amongst other events, will also be showing at this Autumn's Raindance Film Festival, & can currently be seen playlisted on MTV2 and Q TV. It's also there for your most convenient perusal on www.myspace.com/flipron, where you can also "befriend" the band in an impersonal way which, nevertheless, Flipron actually find really rather engaging and entertaining!
Have a gorgeous Autumn, everyone!
6th September 06.
Our Dear Friends,
We wish to let you know that we have secured at the last minute, a couple of performances at this weekends BESTIVAL on the Isle Of Wight. We are playing both Friday & Saturday nights at the wonderful Eco-Arcadia Stage. This stage is powered entirely by what those in the know call Bio Diesel & you & I call cooking oil. Not only the stage, but a whole platoon of pinball machines are there to dazzle & entertain you by virtue of Bio Diesel! Eco-Arcadia will be running music & machines at late hours when other stages have fallen by the wayside. We're not sure of our set times yet but we've been assured that you'll be able to find out if you ask one of the pinball machines on the day...
As if that was not enough to send you into a Flipron shaped frenzy, the amazing cartoon video to our song Raindrops Keep Falling On The Dead, having already been shown at this year's Cannes Film Festival, is also to be shown at the Raindance Film Festival in London at some point between 28th Septemer & the 8th of October. If you wish to learn a little moreb about Raindance, then we recommend that you visit their website, which isat www.raindancefilmfestival.org
Finally, further Flipron dates for your diary are 22nd September, album launch party at the Spice Of Life in Soho; 28th September, we release our double A-side single The End Of Summer / Raindrops Keep Falling On The Dead; 2nd October, we release, at long last, our new album Biscuits For Cerberus! These dates amid a tour of live performances.
7th August 06. Ah yes, beloveds,
Make haste to our downloads page & press the button to watch our new video for the song Raindrops Keep Falling On The Dead. This amazing animated delight was made by Alex De Campi at Lot 49 films in the style of an exquisitely deranged 1920s Max Fleischman cartoon, in glorious black & white, with flickering screen showing dinosaurs, saucy angels & devils & all manner of other unexpected tomfoolery. It has already been shown at the Cannes Film Festival (shorts corner) (truly) & will be showing at other film festivals all around our perilously spinning planet. More information & a much higher resolution version of the video can be had at www.lot49films.com
We liked the video so much that we've decided to release the song as a double A-Sided single with a song called The End Of Summer from our forthcoming album on the 25th September.
& Finally we have a release date for that new album! It's called Biscuits For Cerberus & it will be released on the 2nd October.
7th June 06. Due to our resident gig astrologer having eaten one too many roast partridges last Easter, our Oxford gig date was incorrectly forecasted to be tonight instead of tomorrow night. It's tomorrow night, the 8th of June. He WAS right about lady luck visiting Chateau Flipron in the form of a poodle though, AND about June being a shit month for money. See you tomorrow, our Oxford friends. Don't forget your mortar boards!
22nd May 06. Hanging Round The Lean-To With Grandad is out. 'At last!' We hear you gasp from the terrifying ledges of despair that you have found yourselves inhabiting through these last gruelling weeks, the very thought of an extended, extra-coconut remix of a Flipron song having forced you into a zombie-like half-life of unquenchable lust, dangling shamelessly like a pink & brown striped carrot of desire before your mind's ear. So send out a spooky, severed hand to find your smelling salts, waft them under your exquisite hooter & leap to your senses & thence to the purchasing frenzy that we have facilitated for you below: The 3-track CD single should be available at a record shop near you. If they haven't got it, complain in an irritating nasal voice until they order ten copies, just to keep you & your kind off their poorly hoovered carpets. It is also available online from the links below, where you can download an individual track for about 80p, which is nothing more than the cost of a single polo mint from a motorway service station! So what's it to be, - a sticky little ring to poke your tongue into on a visit to busy public lavatory on the M3, or a new tune on your ipod that's like a nice cup of tea for the soul? It's your 80p, not mine!
Just click on any of the lnks below
iTunes
Karmadownload TuneTribe Playlouder It is also available direct from Tiny Dog Records in CD or on limited edition &, dare we say, rather saucy 7" vinyl from Flipron & from Tinydog where you can also watch 'The Incredible Thirty-Quid-Vid' which, as it's name suggests, cost a mere £30 to make & is, in it's own way, quite incredible! Here's a lovely review of the single: musicomh
As if that wasn't enough, Unpeeled magazine have also written kindly about this record. Find a copy of this worthy publication & drink in the good word of the 21st century's finest journalists. Our very finest wishes to you & any Grandparents you may be lucky enough to have. Flipron www.flipron.co.uk www.myspace.com/flipron www.tinydog.co.uk
